Your masternode rewards, every morning

A phone notification each day with the epoch rewards every XDC masternode you own earned. If a node earned nothing, or the check couldn’t run, you get a loud alert instead, so a quietly failing node doesn’t go unnoticed.

Get notifications on your phone

ntfy is a free push notification app. No account needed.

Anyone who knows the name can read your notifications, so make it hard to guess. In the app, tap + and subscribe to exactly this name.

Get a free Etherscan API key

Used to list your address’s transactions so they aren’t mistaken for rewards. One key covers XDC.

  1. Sign up at etherscan.io (free).
  2. Open API Keys, click Add, name it and copy the key.

Build your settings

Fill these in and copy the result. It’s put together in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere or saved.

Make your own copy on GitHub

It runs free on GitHub Actions in your own account. You’ll need a free GitHub account.

  1. Click Create my copy, give the repository a name and choose Private.
  2. In your new repository, go to Settings → Secrets and variables → Actions → New repository secret.
  3. Name it XDC_REWARDS_CSV, paste what you copied in step 3 and save.

Test it

Check everything works now instead of waiting until tomorrow.

  1. In your repository, open the Actions tab and choose XDC Masternode Epoch Rewards Notifier.
  2. Click Run workflow. A notification should arrive within a minute or two.

The first message covers the last 24 hours, or says tracking started if the network can’t look that far back. Full reports then arrive every morning at about 8:00 Sydney time.

No notification?
  • Open the latest run in the Actions tab. Problems are explained in plain words there.
  • Check the topic in the ntfy app matches your settings exactly.
  • Check the secret is named XDC_REWARDS_CSV, all in capitals.
Change the time, or get it on the dot

Edit the cron and timezone lines in .github/workflows/xdc-rewards-notifier.yml to choose your own time and time zone.

GitHub often starts scheduled runs late, sometimes by a few hours. For reports at an exact time, let a free scheduler such as cron-job.org start the workflow. See how.

Things to know

How rewards are worked out

Epoch rewards aren’t ordinary transactions, so they’re inferred, exactly like the Rewards Calculator: the balance change, minus what your own transfers in, transfers out and gas fees explain.

Nothing is missed or counted twice

Each run remembers the exact block it stopped at. If a run is late, skipped or fails, the next report simply covers the longer period.

Your details stay yours

Your address and API key are stored as encrypted GitHub secrets in your own repository. Notifications show a shortened address, and the saved progress file stores addresses only as hashes.

Want to check a longer period?

Use the Rewards Calculator for any date range, such as a financial year. For status changes like standby or slashed, see XDC Tycoon.
